New York-based musician Nathan Fletcher maintains a varied career as a performer, composer and teacher. His compositions have been described as “melodious, neo-Romantic,” “haunting... [and] genuinely moving.

Nathan’s two short opera-films with writer-director Adam Taylor were selected from over 800 entries for Opera Philadelphia’s inaugural film series at Festival O22. Praised by Schmopera as a “must-see,” Someone Like Me (L'opera di Facebook) won numerous accolades including Best Musical at the Orlando Film Festival, and a Telly Award. Rumspringawakening received a Silver Medal in the August 2019 Global Music Awards.

With librettist Megan Cohen, Nathan was commissioned by Washington National Opera to create the twenty-minute chamber opera A Bridge for Three, which premiered in 2018 at the Kennedy Center, followed by performances by Hartford Opera Theater (2018) and Texas Christian University (2019).

An orchestral suite premiered at the University of Connecticut in 2019, conducted by Paul McShee.

A freelance ensemble singer, Nathan regularly performs with the Schola Cantorum of Saint Vincent Ferrer, the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys, the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church Chamber Choir, the New York Virtuoso Singers, and many other groups. He has performed the music of Final Fantasy at Carnegie Hall with the Distant Worlds Philharmonic Chorus, and has appeared as a background singer with Madonna (2018 Met Gala) and Sam Smith (2023 Saturday Night Live broadcast).

As an arranger, Nathan especially delights in creating opportunities for high-quality repertoire to be enjoyed by a broader range of performers and audiences.

Nathan teaches courses in music theory and appreciation at Baruch College, City University of New York. His diverse experience in the music industry includes stints in publishing (as an editorial assistant at Boosey & Hawkes and rental logistics coordinator at Schott), various projects as an engraver/editor, and the occasional commercial/media scoring gig.
