Nathan Fletcher maintains a varied musical career in New York as a composer, arranger, singer, professor, pianist and conductor. His compositions have been described as “melodious, neo-Romantic,” “haunting... [and] genuinely moving.

Nathan’s two short opera-films, created with writer-director Adam Taylor, were selected from over 800 entries for Opera Philadelphia’s inaugural film screening series at Festival O22. Praised by Schmopera as a “must-see,” Someone Like Me (L'opera di Facebook) (2018) won numerous festival accolades including Best Musical at the Orlando Film Festival, and a Telly Award. Rumspringawakening (2019) received a Silver Medal in the August 2019 Global Music Awards.

With librettist Megan Cohen, Nathan was commissioned by Washington National Opera to create the twenty-minute chamber opera A Bridge for Three, which premiered in 2018 at the Kennedy Center, followed by performances by Hartford Opera Theater (2018) and Texas Christian University (2019).

An orchestral suite premiered at the University of Connecticut in 2019, conducted by Paul McShee.

As an arranger, Nathan especially delights in creating opportunities for high-quality repertoire to be enjoyed by a broader range of performers and audiences.

Nathan teaches harmony and music appreciation, and directs the chorus, at Baruch College, City University of New York. His diverse experience in the music industry includes stints in publishing (as an editorial assistant at Boosey & Hawkes and a rental logistics coordinator at Schott), various projects as an engraver/editor, and the occasional commercial/media scoring opportunity, which he would like to do more of.
